Harden Furniture

Harden Furniture

Harden has been manufacturing furniture for over a century. It is a family owned and operated company that is now being led by the fifth generation. According to Harden, some of the employees go that far back, too.

Based in McConnellsville, New York, the company has continued to grow and evolve. Harden manufactures furniture for the entire home including the living room, dining room, and bedroom and home office.

Two things distinguish Harden from many other furniture manufacterers:

Harden harvests its wood from 10,000 acres of its own timber property in New York State, and is also enrolled in the Sustainable Forestry Initiative certification program.

Harden is also one of the few manufacturers who still use solid wood in their furniture construction. No veneers or embossed products are used.

Harden also offers customized and made to order furniture. There’s plenty of choice with 40 to 50 different finishes and over 1,000 fabrics to choose from. Harden does not sell directly to customers, but you can find their products all across the country and internationally.

Harden has a variety of finishes for its wood furniture, offering custom finishes and hand painted and decorative finishes.

Continental Crossings is one of its best known collections and is available in a large number of finishes. The collection was inspired by old-world details, especially French and Italian design.

2. Interesting Use of Wood and Other Material

The Cabinetmakers Cherry collection from Harden is an interesting one because of the details. For instance, this bed uses iron and leather along with wood.

Both the leather and iron accents emphasize the strong rustic lines of the bed. This collection was inspired the techniques of early cabinetmakers and has an Adirondack-influenced design.

3. A Variety of Styles

Over its years of manufacturing furniture, Harden has introduced a number of styles. The Artistry collection is its most modern and contemporary.

The clean lines are emphasized by the use of quarter sawn white ash.
