Felt Chair cozy chair by Christian Juhl
Christian Juhl, young Danish designer we present his project Felt Chair, chair melant wood and felt.
A study on the use and exploration of the textile, here felt, in order to apply to the creation of furniture, a chair here.
» The Project Was a detailed study of the woolfibers Ability to shrink through steaming and experiments with the characteristics of the felt Showed shaping the felt in Both convex and concave directions.
For the project I have been based in the hatter’s work process of felt for hats, and Transformed this process to shape the felt over a single frame. By Adding molds to the frame I have the possibilities to work with a complex dual curvature seating. When the felt is dry and stiffened I Can Easily remove the molds and leave the felt alone with the frame. The flesh felt is made of 100% woolfelt and the frame comes in ashwood.»
Felt is working to craft the shape of the seat, placed on a wooden structure, the fabric taut and firmly fixed to drying to form a real shell, a technique inspired Hatters.
I invite you to discover the manufacturing process in detail on this video:
